Flora Hunt 2007
Continuing from last article… On the 21st January I entered the Treasure Hunt organized by Tourism Ministry and managed by Take A Break in conjunction with a Visit Malaysia Year 2007 campaign. It covers area of Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Shah Alam, PJ, Titiwangsa and Pandan Indah. My team failed to get any placing out of about 170 cars but not the lucky draw. Prizes were presented to top 30 finishers. Main prize winners, for the Top 3 finishers, received RM3000, RM2000 and RM1000. A team in one car is between 2 to 4 hunters.

 Start and End…
In case you are not familiar with this game, I will provide you with some of the question and the answer you need to solved. There is also a treasure you have to hunt (actually buy) along the hunting journey. Sometime, you have to face a challenge similar to Amazing Race or Explorace but this is not a must in Treasure Hunt. The race can have more than one stage where the answer will be submitted at every stage before getting to next stage question. This is to avoid a manipulation (to reduce time) by a few teams joining together and sharing an answer.
In a way you may call this a one day Amazing Race. But in Treasure Hunt you can skip some of the question or gamble on your answer, and can still manage a good placing. Previously, Treasure Hunt requires a tulip reader (a map reader similar to car rally). In recent years, due to the difficulty in managing the hunters (some got lost during the race), the game have been simplified. Some have been called a Walk-A-Hunt because of the nature of the Treasure Hunt.
 The Challenge…
Breaking the clues and finding the answer is similarly difficult. The question might be of Container or Anagram category. But due to the heavily tricky question, you will never be really sure which category it belongs to. The clues will regularly produce multiple answers you have to choose. Only the correct one in which is similar to the organiser’s count.
There are few expert teams in this game that you have to face. To be a top finisher with these teams joining is a real challenge and seems impossible - I wonder how these teams manage to get a full mark or a few incorrect answers at the end point. To be on par with them you have to enter as many Treasure Hunts as possible. I, myself is not an expert in this game, but I can manage to break some puzzled question and provide a clues and finally a correct answer.
Other than Hunters tools like dictionary, mobile phone, digital camera and binocular, a good general knowledge is also an important factor to win the game. And you need to be extremely good in Bahasa and English. Some Questions might have a mix clues and answers in both languages. For examples:
Question: Binatang yang sama dari belakang? Answer: GAJAH EMAS.
Question: 50 avoid 1 to ease? Answer: LELAKI (Toilet).
Question: SATU ‘L’? Answer: LENO.
You might also found out that some question is easy to answer if you know a few facts around it.
Question: A pre Darth Vader Shop?
Please do see as many movies as possible…
Question: Scent of L’Oreal Girl.

 Which One?
Question: A 50-50 physique?Â
 ’L’ is roman character for 50. What about I, V, X, C, M?
